2007 - Julie Hamilton

When I took office October 2006, the club had approximately 300 members with nearly 20% women. It was an interesting time for the club; we had such an active level of participation we actually had more people interested in serving on the Board of Directors than we had positions. We had live entertainment at the Soiree with John Pabst’s band keeping the party hopping. The Omnium was very successful with more participants than ever; we made money despite the increasing costs of hosting a three-day event. Strangely, the club’s highest race participation outside of the Omnium was the Race Across America, with many members riding or serving as crew.

We managed to add a public service project to our calendar with a bike path clean up along the stadium bike path in June. Approximately 15 members went to the bike path after the Saturday ride and collected trash from the start of the path on Murphy Canyon Road to the stadium. The club received a note of thanks from the stadium general manager (and I received stickers that refused to die in many bad places). All in all, it was a good year and the club was going strong.
